Welcome to Petaluma
Home to Lagunitas Brewing Company and the Farm to Fermentation Festival, Petaluma brings an urban-feel moxie to wine country. Just forty miles north of San Francisco, residents have easy access to the rest of wine country while also staying close enough to the city to feel connected to SF life.
Life in Petaluma is sweet and sassy. Catch a show at the Petaluma City Ballet or Cinnibar Theater, connect art and nature at the annual Art & Garden Festival, and enjoy the many restaurants and shops in the historic Victorian downtown. Petaluma wine lovers also enjoy one of northern California’s best kept secrets: the Petaluma Gap.
An undesignated appellation, the Petaluma Gap nonetheless produces some of California’s best Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah grapes. Where fog, wind, and sunshine meet to offer some of the best wine growing conditions in northern California, the Petaluma Gap’s microclimate has been likened to Carneros and stretches across more than 1,000 acres of vineyards.
